Phone Preview: Nokia 6111 Phone
Written by jon on 6:45 AMThe Nokia 6111 phone is your standard S40 sliding form factor phone. Destined for more budget-conscious cell phone users, the 6111 does provide the usual gamut of S40 phone features and then some (Bluetooth, 1 megapixel camera). The bottom line is this is a cheap phone that actually has a halfway decent camera for you cheap bastards.
Thank you.
The Nokia 6111 Phone
In terms of looks, the Nokia 6111 phone definitely has its own sense of style. Available in three different color configurations (black face/silver body, grey/silver, and pink/silver (eww), Nokia is going balls-to-the-wall with making this cell phone look good.
Now personally, I'm not a big fan of slider type phones. Most of the time slider phones are just too small when closed - it's kind of like carrying around half a cell phone. I also don't see much of an advantage in covering the keypad, especially considering the phone display is more likely to be messed up. What're you gonna do, scratch your keypad?
With that said, let's look at some of the Nokia 6111's key features. We've got triband 900/1800/1900 mhz frequencies for use around the world (unless you're a Cingular 850 customer), a 128x160 pixel display with 262,144 colors, and a 700 mah battery that can last up to 3.5 hours of talk time.
There's also an integrated camera with a flash. The camera is not VGA - here we're treated to Nokia's 1 megapixel wonder camera on the back of the 6111. No lens cap or slider trick to cover up the camera.
Nokia did not add support for memory expansion cards, so you're stuck with the 19 mb internal memory. That's just too bad because the Nokia 6111 does include a video (3GPP or MPEG4)//mp3/aac player.
As mentioned before, the 6111 does include Bluetooth for wireless connectivity. It's good to see so many of Nokia's newer phones (especially the more budget ones) incorporating Bluetooth technology.
Other notable functions are an FM radio, dedicated Push to Talk key, infrared, USB port, and Java.
